[H1]Fears over the impending Storm Eunice has led to the cancellation of Hitchin's Friday market.[H1]

Storm Eunice is set to buffet our town with winds that could peak at 90mph when it arrives tomorrow, Friday (February 18) - with serious disruption expected.

The approaching extreme weather set to blast Hitchin and North Herts has seen the town centre market call off its regular Friday event.

With dangerously high winds set to cause widespread problems and longer than normal journeys expected organisers issued a statement.

"We pride ourselves on being an all weather market which is there for the community," said market organisers, "but tomorrow [Friday] looks like it could be a bad one.

"With predicted Storm Force 10 winds we must also consider the safety of all of our visitors, traders and staff.

"Stay safe and visit us on Saturday."
