UPDATE: Hitchin Town drew 1-1 with Redditch at Top Field on Valentine's Day, with more than 300 people in attendance on Monday evening.

HITCHIN: We all know it's Valentine's Day - but what to do when your favourite restaurant is fully booked?

While Hitchin Nub News has got you covered with the most romantic restaurants in our town on Valentine's Day.

Plenty of lovebirds have already taken a look at our guide to the top five most romantic Hitchin restaurants for couples as rated by Trip Advisor.

However, we can't guarantee tables in our town's renowned restaurants won't all be booked on the most romantic day of the year.

So, what to do?

How about a trip to see the Canaries on Monday evening?

By Canaries we don't mean our feathered friends - we mean the wonderful yellow and greens of Hitchin Town FC, whose nickname is the Canaries.

The club have deep roots in our community, with Mark Burke's Canaries hosting Redditch on Valentine's Day evening, with kick-off at 745pm.

So, if you're stuck for something to do, why not pay a visit to evocative Top Field, with their town centre stadium a beguiling mix of the young and old.

PS If you do take your Valentine's Day date to Top Field instead of a restaurant please do let us know how your evening went!
