The Harvathon: Get set for running event in aid of mental health charity PoetsIN after Rock Gym owner Gayle lost her beloved brother

THE HARVATHON 2023

Sunday, August 20

9am – 4pm

Offley Recreational Ground, Great Offley

The first official RUN STRONG running event is happening!

Gayle and Rachel are deep into the planning of this event which is being held on Sunday, August 20 at Offley Recreational Ground, Great Offley.

The RUN STRONG team will be hosting a full day of running and walking with proceeds being donated to local mental health charity, PoetsIN

Gayle set up THE HARVATHON last year in memory of her brother, Ian Harvey, who sadly lost his life during a hiking accident in New Zealand in January 2022.

Gayle and her cousin, Jordan, ran a marathon through the night for Ian and they were joined by friends and family during various parts of their challenge.

Some ran with the pair, some cycled alongside them and two even came on scooters. Between them they raised some fantastic funds for the New Zealand Land Search and Rescue Team who found Ian and returned him from Mount Adams, New Zealand

Gayle plans to make THE HARVATHON a yearly event supporting a different charity each time. There is even a virtual option for anyone who can not make the date or does not live in the local area

This team have made this event really inclusive with both runners and walkers being able to take part.

Entrants will have between 9am and 4pm to run or walk as many 5K trail laps as they wish, taking as much or as little rest as they like between laps. There will also be a bouncy castle for the kids from DINKY DUCKS ENTERTAINMENT AND SOFT PLAY HIRE

Toilet and refreshment facilities will be available at the recreational ground along with parking. Pop into the Dream Bean Café at Offley Hoo Farm before heading home to grab yourself a discounted coffee and 10% off all food if you show your medal!

There are plans to add some extra surprises to this event so keep an eye on Gayle's social media pages for updates. You can find her on Facebook and Instagram - gayleharveypt

This sounds like a fabulous event so if you would like to take part, tap the link below to sign up. If you act quickly you will get your place at the early bird price!

Let's hope THE HARVATHON is here to stay!
