Tips for travelling on a budget

There's no getting away from it – the cost of travel, along with pretty much else, has gone up quite considerably recently, making it difficult to find affordable holidays or feel as though you're getting value for money.

But there are ways to make your money go a little bit further and ensure you can still get that hard earned break everyone is craving.

One top tip is to book in advance. There are last minute bargains to be had if you can be flexible enough to jet off last minute, but booking ahead of time can be a really good way of getting a good deal, not to mention spreading the cost.

Another good tip is to avoid the tourist traps. The hotspots and big cities can seem attractive, but sometimes you only need to look a street or two back from the main strip or look for a hidden gem to get more for your money and enjoy somewhere less crowded.   

Being flexible definitely helps. The less you limit the search, the more likely you are to find something that's good value for money. And of course, I would recommend using a travel agent – we can not only spend time researching the best options, but we also have access to suppliers and systems that are not available to the general public.
