Two men have been arrested and bailed in connection with a stabbing which occurred in Hitchin at the weekend.

A 22-year-old and a 20-year-old were arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm. The pair have since been released on conditional bail while police continue their enquiries.

A 19-year-old man was out socialising with friends in Hitchin's busy Market Place around 1120pm on Saturday evening, when they were approached by two men.

A clash occurred, leading to the victim being stabbed in the stomach – with the puncture wound believed to have been caused by a flick knife.

The incident means there have been two stabbings in two weeks in the centre of Hitchin.
