The pandemic and three lockdowns have been a challenge on so many levels for so many reasons.

Due to the nature of Covid, as we all know, public gatherings and socialising have been halted, to prevent the deadly virus spearing.

This has meant lives being changed in so many ways, not least for those who love live music.

The ongoing prevention of public musical events in our area, whether they be large scale festivals - such as Stanton Calling or Todd in the Hole, gigs at Hitchin's wonderful Club 85 or even live bands in pubs across north Herts has been tough to take for those who love socialising and music.

However, many artists are taking their music online, at least until the majority of us have been vaccinated.

So, get ready for the 20th Virtual Baldock Folk Club (VBFC) will be streaming live at 7.30pm this evening, Wednesday, January 13, on their Facebook page

Organisers Brian, Rob, Tony and Greg told Nub News: "It will be another fantastic show with some great music and we hope that as many people as possible can make it."

This week they have a feast of great folk and acoustic music with a spotlight feature of five songs from up and coming Cambridge based singer songwriter Chris Fox who was originally scheduled to play at the real Baldock Folk Club this evening.

The online event will also have more songs from the excellent Fred's House's appearance at the Orange Tree outdoor venue in the autumn before the second lockdown.

Also featured are some originals and covers of Billy Bragg, Del Amitri and more by John Devine, Brian Burke, Chris Howe, Skimmington Ride, Wildfire Acoustic Duo, Owen Stephen, Steph Scott, Melanie Quinn and G La Roche.

The show will also be available after the event on their website via the Facebook Posts heading as long as you are on Facebook.
