Witness appeal after assault in Stevenage

Police are appealing for witnesses and information following an assault in Stevenage.

The incident occurred between 2am and 4am on Saturday (30 December), when it is reported that there was an altercation at the Drapers Arms on the High Street.

A man, aged in his 20s, then began to walk home before he was assaulted near to the junction of Stanmore Road and Church Lane.

The victim remains in hospital at this time having sustained serious injuries, including a fractured eye socket.

Detective Constable Danielle Einchcomb, from the Stevenage Local Crime Unit, said: "Our enquiries are progressing as we continue to establish the full circumstances of this incident.

"I am appealing for anyone who was in the area at the time and saw what happened to please get in touch. You can email me at [email protected] with any information, no matter how small or insignificant you think the details you have may be."
