Families across Hitchin are being invited to cast their votes as the Mum's Guide to Hitchin Awards 2025 officially open — celebrating the very best of local family life.

Following a hugely successful nominations phase, which saw hundreds of submissions from parents and carers, the awards have now entered the all-important voting stage. The popular community-led awards shine a light on the people, businesses and organisations that help make Hitchin such a fantastic place to raise a family.

Mum's Guide to Hitchin website manager Lucie said she was thrilled by the response so far:

"Last year's Awards completely blew me away — the response from the community and the number of nominations were incredible. This year I can't wait to shine an even bigger spotlight on all the amazing local businesses that make family life in and around Hitchin so special.

Hundreds of people have taken the time to nominate their favourite local businesses that really go above and beyond; many have left truly heartfelt reasons for their nominations, and it's great to see a whole host of new businesses making the shortlist this year."

Voting is open now and runs until midnight on Sunday 14 December 2025, with the winners set to be revealed before Christmas.

This year's awards feature 10 categories, covering everything from baby groups to days out:

• Best Activity Class or Group for Under 5s
• Best Activity Class or Group for School-age Children
• Best Holiday Club or Class
• Best Pre/Post-natal Support Service
• Best Lifestyle Service for Parents
• Best Party and Celebrations Provider
• Most Family-friendly Café/Restaurant
• Best Local Shop
• Best Local Event
• Best Family Day Out

Hitchin residents are encouraged to get involved and show their support for the local businesses and services that make a difference to family life in the town.
