Do you like to walk and talk?

Did you know you can take part in free, sociable, local, short walks regularly in North Herts, as part of Hertfordshire Health Walks?

They already take place on a weekly or monthly basis in: Norton, Letchworth, Ickleford, Willian, Purwell, Oughton Common in Hitchin, Knebworth and Weston Hills in Baldock, and we are especially looking for interested people in Jackmans in Letchworth and Royston. With most walks starting and ending at a local pub, you could also treat yourself!

Walking can improve your fitness and increase joint mobility, plus it boosts your mood and can help you sleep better, not to mention the groups help you make new friends, so why not join in? We are also looking for volunteers for different roles within the walking groups – no experience is needed and training will be given.

Jeanette Thompson, Legal and Community Service Director, said: "Walking is a great way to improve both your physical and mental health. Many of the walks take in some of our wonderful countryside, and research shows that being in greenspace can automatically slow your heart rate and make you feel less anxious.

"Health Walks are free, and anyone can join, choosing from a range of walk grades for your activity level and ability. No special equipment or clothing is needed, just some comfortable shoes and maybe a rain jacket as walks take place in all weathers and all year round!"

For more information on Hertfordshire Health Walks – including a timetable of walks and details on becoming a volunteer – please visit: www.hertfordshire.gov.uk/healthwalks, email [email protected] or call 01992 555 888.
