Hitchin's North Herts Museum is hosting the colourful world of characters from artist Beccy Cannon.

The museum on Brand Street sees Beccy create an engaging procession of characters who come to life on her colour-splashed canvases.

She likes to play around with the creative process, closing her eyes, dipping fingers in the paint and seeing who emerges.

They form themselves through a dollop of colour and whatever emotion is racing through her thoughts at the time.

"There's often an evocative face staring back from the canvas, asking for further evolution," Beccy says.

Beccy's explanations accompanying her vivid paintings are almost as memorable as her artwork.

In her work 'He Loves Me....Not!' the text explaining the acrylic reads: 'Gwendoline regretted testing his love by pulling the petals off all her plants. Her garden was bare, unlike her heart, which was heavily full.'

The critics say if you are looking for something truly original, often-thought-provoking and always colourful, then Beccy's artwork is for you, bringing joy for years to come.

The exhibition runs until January 3.
