With the need for building homes, encouraging businesses to North Herts and ensuring there is appropriate infrastructure, the local council are looking for land throughout North Herts that might be suitable to develop.

Through its current Local Plan, they have identified various sites, but as they look to update the Plan, part of the government's requirement is for councils to issue a 'call for sites'.

You don't need to own the land, or even know who owns it, but if you are aware of any sites that may be suitable for future use, including disused or underused land, please let the council know. 

Councillor Donna Wright, Executive Member for Place, explained: "We're planning for the future, and you can help shape it. Although we are obviously aware of what's in the district, it may be that you walk past some land that you think might have potential for development, that is worth us looking at. It might not be suitable, but it could turn out to be an appropriate area for housing, transport, a nature project, or something else. 

"The Local Plan Review is vital to us delivering our council priority of responsible growth. By positively identifying sites that help meet our future needs, we can better protect other areas of the district from unwelcome and inappropriate development."

We're following the government's guidance which is to gather information from the public, landowners and developers, and then a more detailed exercise will follow where we look more closely at the sites that have been suggested.
