Officers from the Roads Policing Unit are now working to establish the full circumstances surrounding the collision.
PC Jason Appleby said: "Our enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances, and we are appealing for anyone with information to please come forward."
Anyone who witnessed the collision or has dash cam footage is asked to upload footage via the Hertfordshire Police dash cam submission portal or contact PC Appleby directly via email.
