Forest Green Rovers 1-0 Stevenage: Boro fall to Jake Young strike

Stevenage lost 1-0 to Forest Green through a Jake Young strike as Rovers continued their unbeaten start to the campaign.

Boro slipped to 17th in the fourth tier after Young notched his first goal in League football, fired a 23rd-minute strike beyond Chelsea's loanee keeper Jamie Cumming, following a through ball from Aaron Collins.

In a dull first half the visitors from north Herts offered little, with Arthur Read driving a long-range effort over the bar.

Cumming did well to stop a deflected Udoka Godwin-Malife effort, while Collins struck the woodwork for the second time for the home side from a Josh March cross with 10 minutes to go.

Boro failed to convert a late chance when Ross Marshall couldn't slot home a loose ball.

Before kick-off Rovers revealed an unnamed first-team player had tested positive test for Covid. As a result, three more players will self-isolate for a fortnight.
