Hartlepool 1-1 Stevenage: Steve Evans Boro slip to fifth after being held at Victoria Park

Stevenage slipped to fifth place in League Two following a frustrating draw at Hartlepool on Easter Monday.

Struggling Boro, who have now won only one of their last six league matches, went ahead through Danny Rose's 25th minute opener which elevated the Lamex outfit back into the automatic promotion spots in third.

However, the home side equalised through Nicky Featherstone 60 seconds after the interval to earn a share of the spoils.

Promotion rivals Stockport beat Newport 4-0 to claim the all-important third berth, while fellow hopefuls Carlisle gained a point after their 0-0 draw at Walsall, which saw them fall to fourth place - one spot above Stevenage.

Boro face AFC Wimbledon at Broadhall Way on Saturday, prior to hosting Doncaster Rovers at the same venue a week on Tuesday, in two crucial, must-win games for Evans subsiding side.
