Arthur Read has been voted Stevenage's player of the month for December.

The central midfielder has been influential since joining on loan from Brentford in the summer.

Battling performances against Southend and Cambridge last month helped the 21-year-old to land the award.

"I am delighted to win Player of the Month again and I would like to thank all the supporters that voted for me," he said.

"The most important thing though is that the team have started to put together a string of good results which we hope to continue between now and the rest of the season."

He won the supporters vote ahead of teammates Terence Vancooten, Charlie Carter and Jack Smith, all very key figures in the clubs recent upturn in form.

With experienced head Chris Lines joining the club from Northampton it was certainly the right time for Read to hit form in a bid to cement his place in the starting eleven and show he deserves to be starting every week.
