Stotfold 1-2 Hitchin Town

A late goal by Jack Morrell sealed a hard-fought victory for Mark Burke's Canaries over Stotfold at New Roker Park on Saturday afternoon.

Brett Donnelly's Stofold started brightly, going ahead as early as the sixth minute when Cody Spavins free-kick was helped into the net by Jack Bradshaw to put the home side 1-0 ahead.

On a blustery afternoon on a hard pitch after the extreme temperatures earlier this week, both sides battled for supremacy.

Hitchin's combative Kyle Teale fired a shot high over the bar in the early stages as the visitors attempted to gain parity. The wayward drive turned out to be a marker for the Hitchin No8 as he was to drill home allow shot in the 21st minute to level the scores at 1-1.

The second half was full of endeavour, with the game appearing to be heading for a draw, until Morrell's 82nd minute intervention won the game.
