'What is going on?' is the question a former England international from Hitchin has asked this afternoon about the club he made his name with.
It might be three years since Hitchin's Jack Wilshere last pulled on the red and white of Arsenal but he still cares about the Premier League giants.
The former Priory School pupil reacted with shock to the news that Gunners playing legend Steve Bould's 33-year career is ending this summer.
Wilshere, who donated an Arsenal shirt to his Hitchin secondary school on Bedford Road, is a keen observer at events at the north London giants.
Posting on his official Twitter account - that follows Hitchin Nub News for all the latest news from his hometown - Wilshere wrote: 'Can't believe it.
"Another proper Arsenal man gone. What is going on?
"What a coach and what a guy. All the best Bouldy."
Bould had been in charge of the Arsenal U23 side for the last two seasons, having previously worked as assistant coach under former boss Arsene Wenger for six seasons.
Bould made a total of 372 appearances for Arsenal between 1988 and 1999, winning three league titles, the FA Cup, the League Cup and the European Cup Winners Cup.
