Stevenage lost 1-0 and fell to a third defeat in a row against a Cheltenham side poised for promotion.
Alex Revell's side banged on the door all game but ultimately were unable to break down a resolute Robins side who look destined for League One.
Boro travel to top of the league and fierce rivals Cambridge on Saturday and will be looking to spoil the party.
