Stevenage 0-4 Forest Green Rovers: League Two leaders' victory leaves Boro boss Alex Revell frustrated

Stevenage boss Alex Revell was left frustrated after his team conceded an early goal to boost League Two leaders Forest Green Rovers during their 4-0 rout over struggling Boro at Broadhall Way on Saturday.

Goals from Kane Wilson, Matty Stevens, Jamille Matt and Jake Young sealed the victory for the country's only fully vegan football club, as the visitors strolled to another triumph in what has been their best start to a league campaign in the club's history.

Defender Wilson fired the leaders ahead after only 120 seconds, prior to Revell's side conceding a further trio after the interval - leaving the Stevenage manager unhappy with his side's display.

Speaking after the match a disappointed Revell said: "It was a really tough day. We do a lot of work in the week in terms of preparing for the game - and we concede after two minutes. Then, all of a sudden, against a side like that, it's tough because they're top for a reason.

"They create chances, but the biggest thing we need to look at - if you don't win your duels, don't out-work people and you don't stick to what you're trying to achieve in the game - well then it becomes very difficult.

"We lost way too many duels and didn't defend set-pieces. When that happens you inevitably end up conceding against teams who are up there.

"We've conceded way too many goals, but it's really tough to take because we're trying to chase the game. Maybe it's the nerves and the pressure on the players, I just don't know."

Stevens struck on 50 minutes to double Rovers' lead before additions from Matt eight minutes later and Young in the 81st minute, clinched an easy three points for the visitors from Nailsworth.

The win was Rovers' sixth in eight league matches while the defeat ensured increasingly beleaguered Boro have lost three out of their last five, sending them down to 21st position in the table.

Stevenage travel to third place Harrogate Town on Saturday.
