Hitchin Platinum Jubilee Carnival
Hitchin
Community Events
UNTIL Friday 3rd June
Save a date in your diary for the Rotary Club of Hitchin Tilehouse Hitchin Platinum Jubilee Carnival.
The event is in conjunction with Hitchin Bid and will feature a walking parade led by Samba Band and dancers with funky carnival costumes.
The eagerly-awaited event is set to take place in our town on Friday, June 3 between 12pm and 2pm, with the carnival starting from Hitchin Town Football Club - taking in Fishponds Road along Bancroft and High Street and finish in Market Place.
Rotary and BID are inviting local groups and organisations to apply.
Organisers told Nub News: "Celebrate the vibrancy and diversity of the Hitchin Community today and over the past 70 years.
"As the carnival is to celebrate HM The Queen's Platinum Jubilee you may want to use one of the following themes to make your costumes.
"Celebrate the fashion of the eight decades of the Queen's reign - so the 1950s, 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s, 00s, 2010s, 2020s..
"Or why not celebrate inventions throughout the last 70 years - for example the moon landing, world wide web, mobile phones, mods and rockers, pop music, satellite technology, Space X, LED Light bulbs and environment issues or street art."
