Hitchin drivers: Did you witness a serious crash on the M1 on Saturday night that left a child with life-threatening injuries?

Herts police have launched an appeal following the road traffic collision on the M1.

Officers are appealing for information and witnesses following a road traffic collision which occurred

on the M1 northbound junction 8 slip road to the A414 to Hemel Hempstead.

At around 6.20pm a grey Hyundai i30 collided with a barrier.

The road was closed to allow investigations at the scene and for the air ambulance to land.

An 11 year old suffered life threatening injuries and a 66 year old woman, a passenger, suffered

serious injuries. Both were taken to hospital.

Two others in the car sustained minor injuries.

Officers are appealing to anyone who may have been in the area and saw the incident or has dashcam footage of what happened to contact police.
