Update: It's still a mixed bag in our town in terms of where to find fuel.

Diesel is now available at the BP garage on Bedford Road.

However, this morning [Wednesday, September 29] the Shell station near the roundabout at Butts Close and Nightingale Road is cordoned off, awaiting new supplies.

Motorists are still continuing to queue in large numbers at petrol stations in and around our area when new deliveries arrive.

The Shell garage on Bedford Road saw big queues as customers amid fears forecourts will run out of supplies, following a recent delivery.

Nub News also witnessed long queues at the Esso garage on Nightingale Road on Tuesday morning, with vehicles stretching down to the Grove Road roundabout with seemingly no end to ongoing panic buying.

An off duty firefighter who agreed to speak to Nub News said: "I've seen people fill up water bottles full of petrol.

"It's just ridiculous. It's also not safe to keep so many jerry cans around your car or even your house."

Despite please for calm from ministers and Hitchin MP Bim Afolami petrol stations in our area are emptying only a matter of hours after new supplies are brought in.

Large queues have also been spotted at the BP garage on Stevenage Road.
