Hitchin Nub News First Glimpse: The new Fabio's Gelato in Market Place
FIRST GLIMPSE FEATURE: The wait is over!
The new site for a much-loved Hitchin ice cream business has been revealed!
Fabio's Gelato closed their previous store on Hermitage Road last month, and have now moved to another town centre site.
Owner Fabio Vincenti has announced the new site for his popular ice cream parlour business will be in Market Place.
Speaking exclusively to Hitchin Nub News Fabio said: "As our Hitchin shop on Hermitage roads lease comes to an end we have decided not to renew but to future proof our business by re modelling ourselves.
"We made this decision as our lease was coming up and coupled with a rent increase, rising costs across the board and running out of space to store and grow our wholesale business, we made the decision as a family and business not to renew, but to look for an industrial unit to manufacture in - and reopen a shop in Hitchin when the right unit came up for lease.
"We were contacted by a local estate agency to say they had the perfect opportunity for us to move our store in Hitchin to a more central location on the market square.
"We can now announce we have signed contracts and have the keys to No4 Market Place, Hitchin."
The new location opens many exciting doors for Fabio's
With a great location over looking the square, more space, more reasonable rates and a beautiful Grade II listed building which was formally a pub called the Red Cow, things are continuing to go from strength to strength for the popular gelato.
Fabio added: "We are currently busy planning and working with our building and design team planning what our new shop space will look like as well as juggling our newborn and three year old.
"There will be home made gelato of course, but we are also excited to announce we will be introducing premium soft serve (whippy) to our range. As well as a cake counter as you walk in and brand new milkshake and gelato shake menu.
"Our new shop will have a cosier, more intimate feel to it with low beamed ceilings and we are excited to show everyone and share our passion with as many people as possible."
Fabio and wife Hannah and the team are also planning to make one of the upstairs rooms into a space for private functions, such as birthday parties, wine tastings and pop up food evenings.
"Without our customers loyal support and the grants and bounce back loans from the government none of this would have been possible," he told Hitchin Nub News.
"We are so happy to share this new chapter with our loyal customers but would also like to take the opportunity to thank you all for the love and support over the last six years and especially the last year which has been extremely challenging."
