North Herts District Council has also scheduled a number of virtual meetings this week.

They include a meeting of the cabinet panel on the environment on Monday (June 7), a meeting on the cabinet panel on the environment on Tuesday (June 8) and a meeting of the joint staff consultative committee (JSCC) on Wednesday (June 9).

However a meeting of the Royston ad District Committee, on Wednesday (June 9) is scheduled to be held in-person at Royston Town Hall.

Commenting on the decision to hold some of the meetings virtually, a spokesperson for North Herts District Council said: "While social distancing guidelines are in operation, the informal meetings that have no decision making powers, such as the Cabinet Panels, which are advisory and have no decision making powers are to continue to be held virtually.

"This will enable community and any person or body to be welcomed and enabled to participate, providing they have previously expressed their wish to do so.

"The JSCC is a consultative Committee, enabling Councillors and officers to consult with each other. This has no decision making powers and therefore can happen virtually."

A meeting of the full council at North Herts was held in-person in their council chamber – within the council's Letchworth Garden City offices – on May 26.

However only 20 of the council's 49 elected members attended – with group leaders asking others to stay away so that social distancing could be maintained.
