Stevenage FC announce Paul Tisdale as new boss

Stevenage have appointed Paul Tisdale as manager.

The League Two club announced the news on Sunday lunchtime.

As a player, Tisdale represented Southampton, Bristol City, FinnPa, Panionios and Yeovil Town during a career as a midfielder from 1991 to 2000.

Injury forced him to end his career early, and he took a coaching role with non-league club Team Bath from 2000 until he left for Exeter City in 2006.

Tisdale earned acclaim during his 12 year stint at St James' Park before moving to MK, prior to managing Bristol Rovers last season.

Chairman Phil Wallace said: "We needed to bring EFL experience and a fresh start into our Club, so Paul fits that perfectly.

"He had an impressive twelve years at Exeter and was recognized as one of the brightest managers in the game, so his move to MK and a promotion in his first season was not a surprise.

"He has developed a long line of talented players at Exeter that have moved up to higher levels.

"We have got a good squad of players and we are looking forward to Paul creating a winning environment.

"We have funds available to strengthen in January if Paul feels we need to do that".

Mel Gwinnett will be Tisdale's assistant.
