This is what happens when you get lazy litterbugs in a Hitchin park

Litterbugs have been at it again in Hitchin.

With a bin literally yards away, lazy litterbugs discarded rubbish where they sat in St Michael's Playing Field on the evening of Easter Monday.

Sadly, it appears that despite many people attempting to educate the ignorant few into taking their rubbish home with them - or even simply putting it in a bin - anti-social behaviour continues in our town.

The latest Keep Britain Tidy survey shows that more than half of the country's parks, including Hitchin, have had to draft in extra resources to deal with the issues, including litter and anti-social behaviour, since lockdown was eased.

Last week we reported on the large amount of litter left behind on Windmill Hill here.

To support parks staff over the long summer holiday period ahead, Keep Britain Tidy has launched a new campaign under the umbrella of 'Love Parks'.

Sadly, it seems that for some people in Hitchin, the message still isn't getting through.
