A Paul Fairclough XI and Barry Fry's Barnet will line up in a benefit match to boost stricken Stevenage legend Martin Gittings.

The Lamex Stadium will host a Benefit Match in aid of the club's record goal scorer this Sunday (September 5), kicking-off at 2pm.

Martin was diagnosed with the incurable Multiple System Atrophy (MSA). The condition is closely associated with Parkinson's disease and rapid deterioration of nerve cells in the brain.

Martin currently receives 24-hour care at home, and any money raised from the benefit match will be split between specialist care and an MSA charity.

Former Boro striker and loyal pal Neil Trebble said: "Good friend, Boro legend and all time club record goalscorer Martin is struggling with a non-curable and non-treatable condition known as MSA and is currently receiving 24 hour care.

"Let's spread the word - please come along and support Martin and the MSA Trust.

"Let's do our bit for one of our own."

Gittings scored a record 217 goals for Stevenage Borough between his debut in 1981 and his final game in November 1994.

The much-loved striker also played for Hitchin Town, Hendon and Barnet during his playing career, with the latter agreed as suitable opponents for a benefit fixture given the two sides' competitive history.
