7 year old baker visits Milford Lodge
By Eliana Ferraris 3rd Aug 2026
Milford Lodge Care Home was filled with sweetness, colour, and a whole lot of pride this week as Year 3 Samuel Lucas pupil AJ Kutowaroo, age 7, continued his heartfelt tradition of baking for the residents — a gesture that has quickly become one of the home's most cherished weekly highlights.
AJ has been visiting Milford Lodge since he was a baby, accompanying his mum, Devina Kutowaroo, who works as part of the Engagement & Wellbeing Team. Over the years, he has grown up surrounded by the warmth of the residents, forming genuine bonds that shine through in every visit. Now, at just seven years old, he's creating his own special impact.
Last week, AJ arrived dressed as Woody from Toy Story, carrying a tray of themed cupcakes that sparked laughter, nostalgia, and plenty of conversation. Residents adored the creativity — and the costume — with many reminiscing about favourite films and characters from their own families.
This week, AJ returned with something beautifully seasonal: homemade blackberry cupcakes, baked using fresh fruit and decorated with care. Residents were quick to share their appreciation, commenting not only on the delicious flavours but on the thoughtfulness behind his efforts. Several remarked how lovely it was to enjoy a treat made with seasonal ingredients, and how much they value the time AJ spends with them.
For AJ, the joy is simple. He loves seeing residents smile, chatting with them, and being part of the home's lively community spirit. His visits bring a youthful energy that brightens the day for everyone — staff included.
Milford Lodge continues to celebrate intergenerational moments like these, where kindness, creativity, and connection come together in the sweetest way.
