Young people across Hitchin and the rest of Hertfordshire are being reminded that help is available if they need advice after receiving their A Level, T Level or GCSE results later this month.

Hertfordshire County Council is encouraging students and their families to seek support from its Services for Young People (SfYP), with advisers on hand to help anyone unsure about their next steps after results day.

Whether students achieve the grades they were hoping for or face unexpected results, advisers will be available in schools and at young people's centres across the county to provide impartial guidance on education, employment, apprenticeships and training opportunities.

Young people who are feeling anxious or overwhelmed ahead of results day are also being encouraged to access wellbeing support through the county's Just Talk service.

Councillor Caroline Clapper, Hertfordshire County Council's Executive Member for Education, Libraries and Lifelong Learning, said: "Results day can be an emotional time, whatever the outcome. We want every young person to know that support is available and that there are many different routes to success.

"Whether you're celebrating the grades you hoped for or rethinking your plans, our advisers are here to help you explore your options and make informed decisions about what comes next."

Students can receive advice on a wide range of options, including:

• Applying for apprenticeships or traineeships.
• Looking for employment.
• Continuing in further or higher education.
• Exploring alternative training or career pathways.

The council is also encouraging young people to register for job alerts and make use of the Hertfordshire Opportunities Portal, which lists apprenticeships, vacancies, courses, careers events and other opportunities across the county.

A Level and T Level results are due to be released on Thursday 13 August, with GCSE results following on Thursday 20 August.
