55 "incidents" were reported between the 1st of March and the 1st of April in Hitchin by Hertfordshire CCTV.

The stats (see below) demonstrate how "anti-social behaviour" issues are the dominant incident in the reporting period.

Rarer incidents include a single suicide and race related hate crime in the Town.

Perhaps surprising considering that shoplifting offences recorded by police in England and Wales rose to the highest level in 20 years in 2024 is only one incident in Hitchin, although shop based CCTV likely covers the more realistic numbers as to the issue. 

A different table - released in a weekly update from North Herts District Council - showed where CCTV cameras are picking up incidents in the town with unsurprisingly the Market Place, Sun Street and Brand Street coming in the top three.
