"A-Z of Hitchin" - out later this month

Later this month fans of the town (that came ninth in a Times poll of best towns to live in the UK back in 2013) will surely be queuing up to buy a copy of a "A-Z of Hitchin".
The author, Wendy Turner, lives in Hertfordshire and has written over a hundred articles for a variety of magazines, including This England, Evergreen, People's Friend, The Countryman and Veracity.
A–Z of Hitchin is her fourth in the series for Amberley Publishing, after the A–Zs of St Albans, Lincoln and the Isle of Wight.
The book is blissful Hitchin propaganda, banging the drum for the town and its history as well as its unique attractions.
From "Archery" on Butts Close to a "Zeppelin" that flew over Hitchin Town Football club, the book is full of lovely short nuggets of affection for the town.
Within its 92 pages you can learn about Hitchin's people - like the town's only VC holder Frank Edward and William Ransom, founder of the UK's oldest independent pharmaceutical.
You can also learn about the town's art, festivals and societies and organisations; from the well known Hitchin BID to the more niche Hitchin Ukulele Club.
