Police are appealing for witnesses after a driver allegedly threw a cup of hot coffee over another motorist during an altercation on the A1(M) near Hitchin.

The incident happened just after the junction 9 southbound slip road at Letchworth at around 1.55pm on Wednesday, August 12.

Hertfordshire Constabulary says the driver of an Audi A6 reportedly undertook a Kia Picanto before suddenly braking, causing the Kia to stop in a live lane of the motorway.

The Audi driver is then alleged to have thrown a cup of hot coffee over the driver of the Kia before leaving the scene.

Police have described the suspect as a tanned man, aged approximately 50, who was small in height and had large glasses and a moustache.

Officers are now keen to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident or saw either of the vehicles being driven in the moments beforehand.
