Appeal after child bitten by dog.

Officers are appealing for information and witnesses after a child was bitten by a dog.

At around 830am on Thursday, January 20, a 13-year-old-boy was walking to school when he noticed a dog approach him.

The dog, which was not on a lead, began to jump up at him and it bit the boy on his right wrist.

This left behind a visible scratch and a tooth mark. As the boy tried to push the dog away, the dog jumped up again and scratched his left cheek.

The dog is described as an Alsatian type of breed, dark brown coloured, and wearing a silver collar.

The owner, who was with her young daughter, is described as a white woman, aged over forty, of a large build and with long dark brown hair. She was wearing blue jeans, a black coat and black leather boots.

The incident happened on the opposite side of the road from Londis in High Road in Wormley.

Sergeant Nina Witteridge said: "This was a frightening ordeal for the victim and we are doing everything we can to find the person responsible for the dog.

"If you saw what happened or have information that might assist our enquiries, please do not hesitate to get in touch.

"Any information you have, no matter how small it might seem, could be vital to our investigation."

Anyone who can help should email PC Stephen Cooper at [email protected].

Call the non-emergency number 101, quoting crime reference 41/5462/22.
