Bim Afolami MP Backs Government Funding Bid for Kimpton Pavilion
Kimpton's Member of Parliament Bim Afolami MP has backed a bid by the local Parish Council for Government funding to help refurbish a pavilion in the village.
In a letter sent to Secretary of State Michael Gove, Mr Afolami says he welcomes the plans which would "bring new life and a new community benefit to this dilapidated facility". The MP also hails Kimpton's "outstanding" Parish Council.
Bim Afolami MP said: "This is an excellent project to bring this pavilion in a vibrant rural community back to a condition which will enable it to act as a great asset for people in Kimpton.
"I was delighted to be able to add my support to their bid for funding from the Government's Community Ownership Fund – this is exactly the kind of project for which that Fund was intended and I look forward to seeing how this pavilion will benefit residents in Kimpton over the coming years."
The pavilion – located on the village's Recreation Ground – is currently said to be in very poor condition internally and refurbishment would bring it into wider community use, with a new fitness studio, café serving healthy drinks and foods, upgraded toilets, and a storage facility.
Kimpton's District Councillor Ralph Muncer added: "In recent years, the condition of the pavilion has deteriorated and therefore I'm delighted to support Kimpton Parish Council's ambitious plans to refurbish this structure ensuring it can once again be used as a hub for our vibrant community.
"I'm pleased to have secured a grant from North Hertfordshire District Council which will assist with the cost of the refurbishment and I will continue to support the Parish Council as we see progress being made on this superb project."
