Today, (Monday) January 25 marks Burns Night - so why not celebrate with a 'virtual' evening of traditional songs marking the occasion!

The traditional annual celebration is to mark Scotland's own 'National Bard', Robert Burns, who many honour on 25 January each year.

Known in medieval Celtic culture as a story teller, verse maker and composer, the word 'Bard' has become synonymous with the world's greatest poets, yet few are as celebrated as Burns.

So why not join Shelagh McConnell in celebration of the songs of Robert 'Rabbie' Burns as she introduces original performances of her favourite Burns songs.

The event was inspired by the Baldock Folk Club's pre Hogmanay Hootenany on December 30 - prompting north Herts musician and singer songwriter Shelagh to organise more of the same for Burns night.

The online event will feature some of the finest folk musicians from around the east of England and beyond.

Shelagh said: "We are excited to welcome Chris Fox, Gary Woolley, Pat Crilly, Jon Doran, Brian Burke, Robin Gillan, Karen Macwhinnie, CorrMcConnell and more.

"So light yourself a fire, pour yourself a wee dram and enjoy an hour of some of the Scottish Bard's finest songs!"
