Champions! Impressive Stotfold clinched the Spartan South Midland Division One on an emotional evening at the New Roker Park.
Brett Donnelly's all-conquering Eagles landed promotion and the title after easing past near neighbours Shefford Town and Campton 3-0 on Tuesday evening - prompting joyous celebrations after the final whistle.
After only a matter of days since landing the Beds FA Senior Trophy, by beating the same team 4-0 at Barton Rovers, Donnelly's imperious side sealed a memorable double.
Despite challenging conditions on a windy night on the Beds/Herts border, the home side dominated the visitors in the opening 45 minutes, but playing against the wind, were unable to find the net. A change from last week's final that, with the wind at their backs, saw them leading 3-0 at the same stage.
However, the deadlock was finally broken in the second half through Connor Clarke - who made no mistake from the spot as he slotted home his penalty to put the Eagles 1-0 ahead - prompting an outpouring of joy from the home support.
Stotfold were to double the lead through Ash Kerlsey who made it 2-0, prior to Codi-Lee Spavins sealing an emphatic victory with a late third.
And at the final whistle after a long, hard season, the Stotfold team, manager and his staff, and everyone associated with the club including it's legion of loyal fans, erupted in well-deserved celebrations.
Speaking to Nub News moments after the match, with his successful team cracking open the bubbly, modest boss Donnelly, said: "I'm relieved.
"I'm proud of my team and the whole club," he added, with feeling after a long but unforgettable campaign.
