Community fundraising appeal launched to help save Ickleford Sports & Recreation Club

A fundraising campaign has been launched to help support Ickleford Sports & Recreation Club after rising costs and falling winter numbers left the long-running community venue facing financial pressures.
The club, which has served the village for nearly 50 years, says it has been hit by increased operating costs alongside lower visitor numbers during the winter months, creating what organisers describe as "a large hole in club finances".
As a result, the club's bar has been forced to shut temporarily while volunteers and supporters work to stabilise finances ahead of the busier summer season.
A public GoFundMe appeal has now been launched asking residents and supporters to help protect what organisers describe as an important community asset for Ickleford and the surrounding area.
The club has long provided facilities and social space for a range of activities including cricket, squash, pétanque, darts and pool, while also acting as a social meeting point for local residents.
In the fundraising appeal, organisers said: "We desperately need an injection of funds to make it through to happier times over the summer and beyond. Please consider giving to this community asset."
Supporters say the venue plays a key role in village life, offering both sporting opportunities and a place for residents to meet socially.
People wishing to support the appeal can donate via the Ickleford Sports & Recreation Club GoFundMe page
