Work has begun on a new housing development on Gresley Way in Stevenage, with its first residents expected to move in by spring 2027.

Stevenage MP Kevin Bonavia visited David Wilson Homes' Hazel Park site to meet the construction team and hear about plans for the development.

Hazel Park is set to provide 408 homes as part of a wider 618-home scheme. According to the housebuilder, the wider plans include a new primary school, nursery, care home and assisted living facilities.

The developer says £13.8 million in Section 106 contributions will support local infrastructure and facilities, including transport improvements, indoor sports facilities, playing pitches and allotments.

Mr Bonavia said: "Getting new homes built is important for Stevenage, but so is making sure that new communities have the infrastructure and services they need to thrive."

He said he was encouraged by plans for a school and improved bus services, and had heard about apprenticeships and career opportunities for former Armed Forces personnel.

Marc Woolfe, Sales and Marketing Director at Barratt David Wilson North Thames, said Hazel Park would combine new homes with green space and community amenities.

The first show home is expected to open in October 2026.
