Consultation on proposed Hitchin Town Council ends Friday

North Herts Council is inviting residents to have their say on the draft recommendations that have been formulated from the responses to the first consultation (which closed in October) on the current parish electoral arrangements and the creation of a Hitchin Town Council.

It is your chance to have your say and will take you about a minute to complete and the deadline is this Friday (9th May 2025)

Whilst some question whether another layer of beaucracy costing more resource is value for money, those campaigning for it argue that "we are giving ourselves as a community the opportunity to become established in a way that suits how local residents want to see the Town managed, rather than a rushed formulaic approach as a smaller cog in a bigger re-structure".

The Town Council will provide "an opportunity to see Hitchin shaped in the way we, as residents, want our community to evolve and to prevent Hitchin becoming lost in the bigger North and East Hertfordshire proposals".
