Hertfordshire County Council has agreed a new corporate plan outlining its priorities for the next three years, with a focus on building a "sustainable, inclusive and thriving Hertfordshire."
The plan — titled On Your Side — sets out the council's key commitments between 2025 and 2028, with five main priorities aimed at improving the lives of residents across the county, including Hitchin and the surrounding area.
Five key commitments
The new corporate plan pledges to:
- Help all children and young people to thrive and achieve their potential
- Fix Hertfordshire's roads and buses
- Grow a more sustainable Hertfordshire
- Support those most in need
- Deliver more for residents
'A reflection of our commitment to local people'
Cllr Steve Jarvis, Leader of Hertfordshire County Council, said the plan was about turning vision into action.
"This plan is more than a statement of intent – it is a reflection of our commitment to the people of Hertfordshire.
We are determined to be a council that Hertfordshire's people recognise as being on their side – responsive, compassionate, and forward-thinking."
Cllr Jarvis added that the council's focus would include driving economic growth and innovation, protecting the environment, and ensuring every child can grow up in a "safe and nurturing community."
Monitoring progress
Each of the five commitments will be backed by measurable objectives, with progress shared publicly to ensure accountability and transparency.
