A white Mercedes and tanker collided in Butts Close, Bedford Road about 1.10pm on Saturday (11th January)

Emergency services were quickly on the scene and the police updated Hitchin Nub News that "chemicals or hazards" were released by the crash.

Early reports suggest that the driver of the white Mercedes had a medical episode and was taken to hospital.

East of England Ambulance Service have been approached for updates.
