By James Denselow 11th May 2026
Domestic abuse, knife crime, anti-social behaviour and policing plans for this summer's World Cup will all be under the spotlight at a public accountability meeting taking place this week.
The meeting, hosted by Jonathan Ash-Edwards, will see senior officers from Hertfordshire Constabulary questioned on key policing and public safety issues affecting communities across Hertfordshire, including Hitchin and North Herts.
The Accountability and Performance Meeting will take place at 10.30am on Thursday 14 May and will be streamed online for members of the public to watch live or later on replay.
Topics due to be discussed include support for victims of domestic abuse, efforts to tackle knife crime and violence, and the ongoing rollout of Operation Hotspot activity targeting anti-social behaviour and crime in hotspot areas across the county.
Police preparations for this summer's World Cup will also be reviewed, including plans aimed at reducing alcohol-related disorder and keeping communities safe during the tournament.
Speaking ahead of the meeting, Mr Ash-Edwards said: "These meetings are an important part of ensuring Hertfordshire Constabulary is transparent, accountable and focused on delivering for residents. The agenda covers a number of significant issues affecting communities across Hertfordshire, including domestic abuse, knife crime and anti-social behaviour. I would encourage residents with an interest in policing and community safety to follow the meeting and see how the Constabulary is being held to account on the issues that matter most to the public."
Residents can also suggest issues they would like raised by emailing [email protected]
The meeting can be watched live via the online stream
A summary and recording of the meeting will also be published afterwards on the Hertfordshire Police and Crime Commissioner website
