Eat Out to Help Out restaurants list: Where 50 per cent off scheme can be used in Hitchin
Hitchin is renowned as a town packed with top quality restaurants and eateries full of moutherwatering dishes – but which establishments have signed up to the government's Eat Out to Help Out discount scheme?
Chancellor of the Exchequer, Rishi Sunak's concept is to encourage people to boost the struggling restaurant industry as the economy aims to bounce back from the lockdown caused by the coronavirus pandemic.
How does the Eat Out to Help Out scheme work?
No vouchers are needed. If you eat out from Monday to Wednesday throughout August you will pay half price for your meal to the value of £10 per person. Alcohol is not included.
Restaurants in Hitchin - and up and down the country - will then claim the cash back from government coffers in a bid to boost the economy and give eateries a shot in the arm during challenging times. Businesses should be reimbursed within five working days.
Announcing the scheme earlier this month Sunak said: "I know people are cautious about going out. But we wouldn't have lifted the restrictions if we didn't think we could do so, safely."
The scheme means that a family of four can eat out for £40 instead of £80.
The list of restaurants in Hitchin taking part in the scheme are as follows.
Bar Azita, Deroka, The Groundworks, Chilli B's, Lussmanns, Kite at The Red Hart, Fussey & Baer, Regent Cottage, Costa Cofffee, Mevan and Bridge Street Bistro.
