Find out what's cooking with new town centre business set to replace 02 mobile phone store in Hitchin Market Place

Hitchin Nub News can exclusively reveal the name of the business that will soon be occupying a vacant site on Market Place.

With the pre-Easter closure of the 02 shop (pictured) situated at 33 Market Place, Nub News can reveal who will now take over the prime spot in Hitchin town centre.

Hitchin Nub News understands that Cook, an award-winning, frozen meals and puddings specialist are set to take over the empty site in the market square.

Cook was founded in 1997 by Ed and Dale, with a little shop in Farnham and an old pizza delivery kitchen. Inspired by the taste of great home-cooking, they say their dream was to find a better way of doing business - working for people and the planet, not just profit.

They explain: "Values are baked into everything we do. Nourishing people and planet since 1997."

The company - which has around 90 stores across the UK including Hertfordshire with their Harpenden store - say they use the same ingredients and techniques that a good cook would use at home - "so all our food looks and tastes homemade," they add.

They add in their founding statement: "While a lot has changed for COOK since the year when everyone flocked to the cinema to watch Titanic, a lot has stayed the same, too.

"We still prepare our meals and puddings by hand, and we're still obsessed with using the best ingredients from farmers and suppliers we trust."

Cook explain that their meals and puddings have picked up scores of Great Taste Awards and can be found in hundreds of independent shops all over the UK. They have four kitchens, where everything is still prepared by hand, 90 of their own shops, and a thriving delivery service.
