Hitchin's renowned French Market has already been hailed as a huge hit.

Traders from across the channel have returned to our town's Market Place with delicious, mouth-watering produce from Brittany and Normandy.

The aroma of French food has been wafting across market square on Friday, with plenty of hungry punters expected on Saturday.

Among the succulent fayre on offer, stallholders from across La Manche have been selling pates, meats, mustards, different types of bread and cheeses, as well as jam.

Hitchin Nub News spoke to well-known author and satisfied punter, Danny Pearson who already sampled delights from French traders on Friday.

"What a treat," he told us, adding, "I could smell the gorgeous food from The Arcade.

"I treated myself to a couple of garlic prawns - I shall be back on Saturday for more."

Bon appetite, prendre plaisir!
