Helping Herts* has launched its exciting new campaign for 2022 which aims to raise £250,000 for child welfare charities across Hertfordshire.

The campaign seeks to raise awareness of charities in this sector and the vital work they do.

By bringing all the charities together, under the central theme of child welfare, Helping Herts is inspiring action and maximising fundraising opportunities for the charities involved.

The campaign brings together 12 Hertfordshire based charities including:

Coram Life Education

Carers in Herts

Herts Young Homeless

For Baby's Sake

Herts Mind Network

Grove Cottage

Riding for the Disabled Association (RDA)

Home Start Herts

The Phoenix Group for Deaf Children and Adults

PlaySkill

The Ollie Foundation

NSPCC Julie Bayford, CEO of the Phoenix Group for Deaf Children and Young Adults, said: "Phoenix are looking forward to taking part. It will be wonderful to have some support and guidance to help us involve our membership and the wider community in our ongoing fundraising challenges." The first fundraising activity planned for 2022 is being undertaken by Gordon Morrison and Jim Tatchell, co-founders of Helping Herts. In April they will be putting on their walking boots and embarking upon a sponsored walk to raise funds for the charities involved in the 2022 campaign. Gordon and Jim will be walking 170 miles on a circular route, starting and finishing in the historic market town of Bishops Stortford, taking in the pretty villages of Kings Langley, Wallington, Little Wymondley and Codicote, as well as St Albans, Tring, Broxbourne and Hertford, to name a few. Gordon Morrison, Founder of Helping Herts, said: "Unsurprisingly, there are clear signs that the upheaval in children's lives as a result of the pandemic is having an impact on their welfare and mental health, so the charities in this sector need our support now more than ever. "Many charities have had their fundraising events or activities cancelled due to coronavirus, so I'm really pleased to be able to embark on this charity walk to raise some much needed funds for these charities, which are doing a fantastic job helping those in need. "The charity walk is just one of our many fundraisers planned for this year. Keep an eye out on our social media channels for details of more events throughout the year, as well as how you can organise your own fundraiser."
