Hertfordshire residents asked to help shape new road safety strategy
By James Denselow 15th May 2026
Residents across Hertfordshire are being urged to share their experiences and concerns as part of a new consultation aimed at shaping the county's future road safety strategy.
Hertfordshire County Council has launched a public consultation seeking feedback from residents, organisations and community groups on how safe roads feel across the county and where improvements are needed.
The new strategy will focus on reducing deaths and serious injuries on Hertfordshire's roads in line with national road safety ambitions. The council says feedback from residents will help identify priorities and guide future improvements.
People are being asked about their experiences as drivers, cyclists, pedestrians, passengers and public transport users, as well as sharing concerns about speeding, dangerous junctions, crossings and road behaviour.
The consultation comes as wider discussions continue nationally around road safety measures, including safer road design, speed management and protections for vulnerable road users.
Earlier this year, Hertfordshire County Council also announced plans to review its speed management strategy and expand 20mph zones in some communities to help residents feel safer on local roads.
Residents can take part in the consultation online via the Hertfordshire County Council consultation page.
