Herts County Council's director of public health has said it will be unlikely different tiers would ever be applied to different district and boroughs within the county.

Despite a marked difference in Covid cases throughout the county, health supremo Jim McManus has ruled out any possible move to differentiate tiers within Hertfordshire.

The latest data shows that north Herts – where there have been 139 confirmed Covid cases recorded over the last week - numbers are as low as 104 per 100,000 population.

Whereas, for example, Broxbourne - where there have been 204 confirmed cases in the last seven days – the infection rate is 210, nearly double that of Hitchin and north Herts.

However, Mr McManus moved to quash the notion that different tiers would be applied in places with differing data across our county.

"People move across the county east to west and north to south," he said.

"I don't imagine there would be a case for taking a different view in any one of our districts or boroughs."
