A popular village pub near Hitchin is set to undergo a major transformation this summer as part of a significant six-figure investment.
The Green Man in Great Offley, a Grade II listed pub operated by Greene King under its Chef & Brewer brand, will temporarily close from Sunday 15 June while extensive renovation work takes place.
Located on the village High Street and known for its countryside views, the pub is expected to reopen next month with a refreshed appearance designed to enhance the experience for diners and drinkers while retaining the building's historic character.
The refurbishment will include a complete overhaul of the interior, featuring a redesigned bar area, updated décor, new furniture and additional seating. The conservatory dining area will also be modernised to create a more welcoming space for guests.
Outside, improvements will include new signage, upgraded outdoor furniture and enhancements to the pub's pergola area, providing additional space for customers looking to enjoy food and drink outdoors during the summer months.
Greene King says the investment has been designed to preserve the pub's traditional charm while introducing modern touches aimed at improving comfort and service.
The refurbishment is also expected to create new employment opportunities, with the Green Man currently recruiting additional team members ahead of its reopening.
The Green Man has long been a popular destination for residents from Great Offley, Hitchin and the surrounding villages, attracting visitors with its historic setting and countryside location.
Customers will be able to make bookings for the refurbished pub ahead of reopening through the Greene King app and the venue's website once reopening dates are confirmed.
