Hitchin: 'When it rains look for rainbows' says brave Hattie - GALLERY

By Layth Yousif 21st Jul 2021

'When it rains, look for rainbows,' says a brave Hitchin youngster.

After the tremendous downpour over our town on Tuesday evening, a beautiful rainbow emerged.

As mum Helen Birks told us: "It was such a lovely moment."

Helen watched the gorgeous rainbow with daughter Hattie, who has been bravely battling serious health issues.

Hitchin Nub News extensively covered Hattie's courageous fight which was boosted by the Hitchin Belles, who embarked on fundraising events that saw a large number of sportspeople, including Jack Wilshere as well as various celebrities back her cause.

Courageous Hattie, who lives with her sister, Ellie, brother George, mum Helen and dad Paul in our town, was diagnosed with rhabdomyosarcoma, a cancer of the soft tissue, in 2019.

However, inspirational Hattie had good news this summer when she rang the bell to signal the end of her current course of treatment.

Helen added: "Hattie is always such a positive person.

"Her looking at the rainbow at the end of the storm just felt quite symbolic of how she has dealt with the last two years - always looking for something positive and hopeful."

And so say all of us.

Now, we're not claiming to be expert weather forecasters here at Hitchin Nub News towers.

But when the heavens opened over Hitchin on Tuesday evening - as we predicted earlier in the day - we saw a stunning rainbow over our area.

Struck by just how wonderful the rainbow looked, we asked our many thousands of eagle-eyed readers if they had seen it to - and to send YOUR best snaps to us.

So you did. In large numbers. Which we loved, so we decided to run a gallery.

We can only fit a maximum of 10 photos on any given story - otherwise our rainbow gallery would have been twice the size at the very least.

We hope you enjoy our readers pictures of the stunning rainbow over Hitchin.

As mum Helen and brave Hattie say: 'When it rains, look for rainbows."
